My massage therapy practice includes a range of specialized techniques. I am certified in Sports Massage, Intraoral Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), Swedish Massage, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF). For those interested in the specifics of Intraoral work, NMT, and PNF, I will be sharing in-depth content on my blog. I am also expanding my expertise this year with advanced training in Intraoral and PNF modalities.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a specialized form of massage therapy designed to address the unique needs of athletes and active individuals. It's used to enhance athletic performance, aid in recovery, prevent injuries, and treat specific conditions that may arise from repetitive motion or strenuous activity.

Intra Oral Massage

IntraOral massage is a therapeutic technique where the therapist uses gloved fingers to carefully massage the muscles within the oral cavity. By directly addressing these often-overlooked muscles, this modality can release tension, improve range of motion in the jaw, and alleviate pain associated with conditions such as TMJ disorders, clenching, and bruxism.

  • Performance Enhancement: Sports massage can help athletes improve their flexibility, range of motion, and power, allowing for optimal performance. Uses Neuromuscular techniques such Contract/relax, pin & stretch and PNF to achieve these benefits.

  • Injury Prevention: Regular sports massage can identify areas of tension or imbalance, addressing them before they lead to injury.

  • Recovery: After intense training or competition, sports massage helps to reduce muscle soreness, speed up recovery, and promote healing. Sports uses different techniques based around the event for the athletes categorized as pre,  inter and post event massage. More info on how the techniques will Be listed under my ”blog”.

  • Specific Condition Treatment: Sports massage techniques can be applied to treat specific injuries or conditions, such as muscle strains, tendonitis, and other soft tissue problems. I.e. using DTF (Deep Tranverse Friction) at tendonis junctions or Contranct/relax techniques on over active muscles. I will be including more info about these in my ”blog”.

Techniques Used:

Sports massage incorporates a variety of techniques, which may include:

  • Deep Tissue Massage: To release muscle tension and address deeper layers of tissue.

  • Myofascial Release: To address restrictions in the fascia surrounding muscles.

  • Trigger Point Therapy: To alleviate pain caused by specific points of hyperirritability in muscles.

  • Stretching: To improve flexibility and range of motion.

  • Neuromuscular Techniques: To address muscle imbalances and improve neuromuscular function.

Who Can Benefit:

While sports massage is highly beneficial for professional and amateur athletes, it can also benefit anyone who participates in regular physical activity. This includes:

  • Runners

  • Cyclists

  • Swimmers

  • Weightlifters

  • Dancers

  • Anyone with an active lifestyle

By incorporating sports massage into a training or wellness routine, individuals can experience improved performance, faster recovery, and a reduced risk of injury.
